The Sunday side moved into third with a 1-0 win over league leaders Dunboyne in the Iveagh Grounds on Wednesday night.
In a super first half performance Bangor could and should have been 4 or 5 goals to the good, but had to settle for a 1-0 lead at half time after Lar nipped in at the back post to finish a cross from Foxy, after good work down the left from the excellent Lee Murray. There were a couple of clear-cut chances for Luke, and Rob Porter had a lob brilliantly cleared off the line as Bangor dominated from start of the half to finish.
The second half saw Bangor start well again and have more cances to stretch the lead, with Luke, Foxy and Deco all having good chances, but it stayed at one nil. Dunboyne then had their only spell of pressure and forced a couple of corners, and while Congo was generally untroubled, there was a shout for a goal after a scramble, but Bangor held on. Bangor got back on top and should have added to the lead through Aarsy but his header managed to clear the crossbar. The lads saw the game out without a scare and took the 3 points to move to within five points of Dunboyne at the top with 4 games in hand.
